Matt Nettesheim Senior Pastor
September 10th, 1994 was a turning point in Pastor Matt Nettesheim’s life. It was on that day that, as a nineteen year old man, he trusted Christ as his personal Saviour. His heart and passion for God are evident in his desire to introduce others to Christ and see them grow in their relationship with Him.
Matt Nettesheim received his early schooling in Public schools in Northern Colorado. He attended high school in Lafayette, Colorado and graduated in 1993. Soon after graduation Matt Nettesheim served in the United States Navy as an electronic technician and was honorably discharged in 1999.
Sensing God's call to ministry, Matt Nettesheim enrolled at a local church Bible Institute, in Virginia Beach Virginia, and graduated in 2004. While attending, he founded a military ministry, taught a couples class and became the music minister.
Pastor Nettesheim was called to Grace Baptist Temple in 2009 by fourteen members. The church was struggling and could offer no pastoral salary; however, since that time God has blessed, and the congregation has grown from an average attendance of twenty to become one of the fastest growing independent Baptist churches in the state of Virginia.
Pastor Matt Nettesheim’s heartbeat is that of a pastor. He loves his church, and even through tremendous growth, Grace Baptist Temple has maintained its close-knit family atmosphere and its passion for serving people.
Under Pastor Nettesheim's leadership, the church weekly engages in strategic and systematic ministry to the Hampton Roads community including age-specific adult Bible classes, student ministries and children’s ministries, a bus ministry, Patch the Pirate Club, Master's Club, and a Help for the Hungry program.
God has blessed Grace Baptist Temple with a beautiful campus for ministry. Today, the church occupies 6 acres of land and has several buildings and has a vision for the future.
Pastor Nettesheim is married to the former Mandy Standfield of Ada, Oklahoma, and they have one daughter and seven sons.
